Welcome to the Department of Information Science!
The Department of Information Science (what is "information science"?) was originally part of the Department of Quantitative and Computer Studies which was founded in 1988. In 1991 the Department of Information Science was formed. We are part of the School of Business (formed in 2000) which was first established as the Faculty of Commerce and Law in 1914.
The Department of Information Science has thousands of graduates and postgraduates following careers in information science. Our graduates make vital contributions to New Zealand's economy both domestically and internationally. They have also created opportunities for employment by developing their own businesses or by becoming academics in global tertiary education. The department has affiliations with a number of companies, both local and international.
